Today I am going to tell you about some quick and the best methods to take screenshots on Windows 10, 8 and 7. These methods include both the entire screen and the selected screen capturing.
Method 1:
Use PrtScn key to Take Screenshot PrtScn

PrtScn is the best-known method to take screenshots so far. It works in all versions of Windows, including Windows 10. To take a screenshot, just press the ‘PrtScn’ key on the keyboard, this will capture the entire screen and copied it to the clipboard. But this wouldn’t save it automatically, you have to save it on any image editing tool such as Microsoft Paint. Or you can save it to the Microsoft word document. Simply choose Edit then right click and paste it into a word document or just press Ctrl + V.
PrtScn method has 2 major limitations. First, it couldn’t save the screenshot automatically. You have to save it yourself. Second, it captures the entire screen. You can’t capture a selected portion of the screen.

Use Win + PrtScn to Capture Screenshots Win + PrtScn

This method also captures the entire screen. Your question must be, then what’s new? The only difference is this method automatically save your screenshot, no need to save it manually. Press Win + PrtScn on the keyboard at the same time. The screen will dim for a while, it means the screenshot has been captured. The saved screenshots can be found in the “Screenshots” folder, under the “Pictures” in the “Users” folder.

Actually, this method seems like somewhat similar to the method no 1 (PrtScn). It also captures the screen and copied it to the clipboard. The only difference is, it takes the screenshot of the active window (or the entire desktop, if there is no active window). Let's assume, if you have opened 'Notepad' at present, then Notepad will be the currently active window. And when you uses Alt + PrtScn together, it only captures the notepad window instead of the entire screen. To take a screenshot using the method, click on the active window, then press the keyboard shortcut keys. This will capture the screenshot of your current active window and copy it to the clipboard. Now save it manually on any image editing tool such as Microsoft Paint.
Method 4:
Use Win + H and Capture the Screen Win + H

This method can capture and share the screenshot of the Current Active Window (or the entire desktop, if there is no active window). If you want to capture a specific window, just click on that Window and then hit the shortcut keys. In Windows 8, it works only when an app or a picture is opened. Press the Shortcut keys after opening the app or picture.
This method is a perfect option when you quickly need to send or share screenshot via Email, Message, OneNote, Facebook or Twitter. Just Press Win + H, it will open the “Share” toolbar on the right side with three default options: Messaging, OneNote, and Mail. You can also add other Apps as the sharing options. Just click on “Look for an App in the Store” the last option of the "Share toolbar", then browse and select your desired app. Now click on one of the sharing options, the screen will dim for a while just after your click. It means that the screenshot of the active window is captured. Now share or send it, wherever you want.

Out of all the above-mentioned methods, this is the most advanced screen capturing method. In Windows Snipping Tool, you will get a few more options and some useful features too. With the help of Snipping tool, you can take various types of screenshots. Such as Free-form Snip, Rectangular Snip, Window Snip and Full-screen Snip. In short, you can capture a selected portion, window or any part of your screen. In the Windows Snipping Tool, you can also use the pen and Highlight tool to decorate your screenshot. You can draw or highlight anything in it. And when you are done, you can save it or send it via email.
