Method 1:

If you don’t have another user account, just create a new one. Follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Press Ctrl + Alt + Del, and select 'Task Manager'.

Step 2: Now in the tabs below the menu bar, click on 'Users'.

Step 3: Then right click on the default user (your user name) and then click on 'Manage user accounts'.

Step 4: Now User Accounts will open, Click on ‘Manage another account’ and then click on ‘Add a new user in PC settings'.

Step 5: Finally click on 'add someone else to this PC' under ‘Family & other users’ and then create a new user.

Now sign out from the default user account and sign in as the new user, the one you have just created (to switch user, press Ctrl + Alt + Del, and select 'Switch User').

Now sign as the new user and check that the problem is resolved, or not.


Method 3:

Install Windows Update to Fix Windows 10 Start Button and Cortana Search Problem

Microsoft has also aware of this issue and they have been released Windows Update to fix this issue. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically if you enabled 'Install Updates Automatically' in Windows Update Settings. If you have not, then just update your windows 10 to till date using the ‘Windows Update’ in the control panel settings. Or, you can download the standalone (offline) update from the official Microsoft Update Catalog using the link below.

Method 4:

Use this command and Fix Windows 10 Start Button and Cortana Search Problem

Step 1: Open elevated command prompt, right click on the start menu and then click on 'Command Prompt (Admin)'. UAC will ask you to allow it or not, click yes and allow it.

Step 2: Now CMD Terminal will open. Type 'powershell' in it and hit enter.

Step 3: Now copy the command line given below, paste it into the CMD Terminal, and hit enter. To paste the command line, copy the entire piece of command and just right click in the CMD Terminal. Now the copied text will be pasted in the CMD Terminal.

Step 4: Now wait for a while until the command completes its work. Close the CMD Terminal, when the process complete.

Now click on the Start Menu and check that the problem is resolved, or not. Not working again, restart your system and try again (Well, as per my experience, there is no need to restart your system).


Method 5:

Reset Windows 10 to Fix Start Button and Cortana Search Problem

If none of the above-mentioned methods works for you, don’t worry here is the final one. It will surely fix all the Problems of your Windows 10.
Now you have to reset your Windows 10. Follow the steps given below to reset Windows 10.

Step 1: Press Win + I, now settings will open.

Step 2: In the ‘Settings Window’, select the last option 'Update & Security'.

Step 3: Now under Update & Security, select 'Recovery' the fourth option on the left.

Step 4: Now you can see the option 'Reset this PC' on the top. Click on 'Get Started' under it.

Step 5: Now Windows will ask you to choose any one of the two given options, choose the first option 'Removes apps and settings, but keeps your personal files'.

1. The first option will remove all the apps and settings including the apps you installed manually. But it won't remove your personal files.
2. If you choose the second option, it will remove everything and change setting and apps to their defaults.
So be aware while selecting the option.

Step 6: Now a new window with the list of your manually installed apps will appear, click 'Next'.

Step 7: Then finally click on 'Reset'.

Now sit back and wait until the process will be completed. When the process will be completed, and your system will be ready after the restart. On the desktop, you can see a list of all your manually installed apps which were removed. This list will make easier to download and install those removed apps again.
