Share Smartphone Internet Connection on Computer Laptop

Several times our computer laptop internet connection has stopped working due to various reasons and we  are unable to use the Internet. From Internet connection I mean; broadband, data card, leased-line etc.
And sometimes in such a situation, there is very urgent work, which cannot be done on a Smartphone or Tablet. Such as, you need to send a file to someone and that is saved on your computer, you have to create some sort of content, you need to do some work which requires keyboard and mouse.

In such, you cannot work on your Smartphone, but the Smartphone can work for you.

Share your Smartphone’s Internet in your PC or Laptop

You can use your Smartphone’s Internet connection on your computer laptop. Sharing of Smartphone’s Internet connection on a computer, Laptop or other devices is called Tethering.

Smartphones Offers Three Types of Tethering:

  • Bluetooth Tethering:

Bluetooth Tethering enables the Bluetooth of your Smartphone and connects to the other device over Bluetooth. To setup Bluetooth tethering, you will have to pair your Smartphone to your Bluetooth enabled device. Bluetooth Tethering allows only one connection at a time.

  • Wi-Fi Tethering:

Wi-Fi Tethering is also known as Mobile Hotspot. In Wi-Fi Tethering, multiple connections are allowed. Turn on the Mobile Hotspot on your Smartphone and connect to your other Wi-Fi enabled device, the same way you would connect to any other Wi-Fi network. The drawback of Wi-Fi tethering, it may be drains your Smartphone’s battery life.

  • USB Tethering:

  • USB Tethering, I would say it is the best for me. No need to worry about the battery consumption and draining. In USB Tethering, your computer uses the USB connection as the medium for connecting to the Internet. Only one connection is allowed in USB tethering.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Tethering may cause battery consumption and browsing speed related problems. Battery consumption is higher in these two types of Tethering, because of active Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. So I would advise you to use USB Tethering.

Why am I suggesting USB Tethering?

  1. Because of wired connection you will get good and uninterrupted browsing speed.
  2. Your Smartphone will also be charged along with the use.
  3. It is easy to setup and use.

Keep in mind a few things before moving forward:

  • Be sure, your Smartphone’s data plan is activated, otherwise the internet usage charge will deduct from your main balance.
  • Your Smartphone’s signal strength is on at most, because your computer will use your Smartphone to connecting the Internet via a USB connection.
