Use Undo Sent Feature to Cancel-Undo Email Sent by Mistake

Have you mistakenly sent an email to someone else?

And now you want to delete, cancel or undo the sent email?

Want to Undo an Sent Email

To be frank, unfortunately you cannot do this at any cost.

At least for now absolutely not, while enough time has passed since you sent the email. 'Sent email' is like the spoken words, you couldn't eat it back. There is no way to delete an sent email, without logging in to the receiver's email account.

What can you do, after sending an email to the wrong person?

You can send another apology email to that person and can request him to delete the first email.

Or,

A little preparation you can do for such situation, if this happens again in the future. You can enable Gmail's 'Undo Send' feature.

What is Gmail's "Undo Send" feature?

Gmail is the world's most popular email service. Recently, Gmail has introduced a new feature 'Undo Send email'. With this feature, now you can "undo" your sent emails within 30 seconds. You can activate or enable this feature from Gmail's Settings. Undo time period for an email can be set up to 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds.

How does the "Undo Send" Feature Works?

When you enable 'Undo Send' feature, then your emails sent late by the time you set. To give you time to undo, Gmail delays sending the email according to the cancellation time period that you set. If you don't click 'Undo' within the time limit, your email will be sent. You can't use 'Undo send' after the time limit exceeded. The option of Undo an email will not appear after the time limit exceeded.

For example:

Assume, you enable 'Undo Send' feature in your Gmail account settings and set the cancellation time period to 30 seconds. Now, whenever you will send an email, that email will be sent after exactly 30 seconds of your send button clicking. In short, it means the email will be sent with the delay of 30 seconds. You can't use 'Undo send' after 30 seconds.
